::Our Adoption Story::

Dustin and I wanted to have children as soon as we got married! We both came from big families and wanted that for ourselves! We had been trying to get pregnant for 3 1/2 years when we decided to sign up for adoption!

In January 2010 we started the first steps to being able to adopt a child through LDS Family Services. (https://www.itsaboutlove.org/ial/ct/eng/site/pregnant/)

We knew it was going to be a long process and that most couples wait an average of 3 years before receiving a baby. We did the background checks, filled out paper work, got physicals and made an adoption blog (http://dockstaders.blogspot.com/2010/04/welcome.html).
 Then we waited. We continued working and having a good time as a couple!

In May 2010, just 4 months later, a distant cousin contacted my mom. She was 7 months pregnant and was looking for a distant family member to take her baby. She wanted to place her baby for adoption with a couple that was a LDS church member and a relative if possible! My mom told our cousin about Dustin and I and we started talking via email. Two weeks later, Dustin, my mom and I flew out to Tennessee to meet my moms distant cousin and family. We had a great trip. She asked Dustin and I if we could take her baby girl when she had her in July! Dustin and I were thrilled and we so thankful that our Heavenly Father put us in each others lives.

My mom and I went back out to Tennessee July 4th 2010 to wait for our little girl to be born. Dustin had to work so we waited to call him when we knew she would be coming!

Mallory Ava was born July 8th 2010 at 5:15am in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She was a tiny beautiful 6 pound 11 ounce baby girl! She was absolutely perfect! Dustin missed the birth unfortunately due to an airline problems! :( Dustin was able to meet Mallory 8 hours later though!

I am so grateful for the Lords hand in our lives! I know that I was not able to get pregnant for a reason! Dustin and I would have never signed up for adoption and might not have even been willing to take Mallory if we had already had children naturally! The Lord really does bless our lives!!
